Engagement in Servitude

The Gaudiya Saints are the highest representatives of Servitude in the land of Braja and Nabadweepa. These are the torch-bearers of the Parampara line of Sriman Mahaprabhu. The Bhajananandis continue to do their Bhajana although they have attained all perfection. Many of them are nitya-siddhas and yet they continue to perform various austerities just like students of Bhakti who are enthusiastic and new to Bhajana. This is indeed perplexing considering the position of these stalwarts in the arena of Sadhana and Gaudiya Vaishnavism. It will be interesting to gauge their actual mood as they engage in servitude to the Supreme like ordinary mendicants.

Saints like Thakhura Bhakti Binode, Thakhura Mahasaya and others have often expressed their humbleness and inabilities in their songs to the divine. Their very greatness takes them to their ultimate stage of humility which no ordinary aspirant of Bhakti can fathom. Their separation from the divine couple is their very strength which also imbues into them the state of separation from their beloved deities. This mood and melancholy has attached to their very name and personality the power of  Prema itself. Even if one chants the names of Vaishnavas like Thakhura Mahasaya or hqdefaultThakhura Bhakti Binode, one will without fail attain the rare treasure of Krishna Prema. These transcendental personalities have moved on the face of the earth just to inundate earth with Krishna Prema. The Gaudiya Geeti is testimony to the transcendental greatness of the servants of Braja. The genuine saints in the line of Sriman Mahaprabhu who exist in Braja  do so simply for the welfare of the countless lost souls who move on earth just like dazed and lost insects. It is only by the glory of these servants of the Lord , are some of the fortunate souls drawn to them and shown the beacon of Sriman Mahaprabhu’s glory.

There is no need for one to “preach” in the movement of Mahaprabhu. Still one can become silently engaged in servitude , giving the name and glory of the Parampara to others sitting at one place. One simply needs to be single-pointedly engaged to the Sambandha , Abhidheya and Prayojana tattva of the higher kind. For a regular student of Gaudiya Vaishnavism , Sambandha Tattva is Sri Sri Radha Madana Mohana ; Abhidheya Tattva is Sri Sri Radha Govind-devji and Prayojana tattva is Sri Sri Radha Gopinathaji. A devotee who is ready to undergo the pain of separation of His beloved deities , who is ready to take birth after birth relentlessly for the sake of the millions of jeevas who are lost in ignorance , not worrying about one’s own union with the divine couple also has a different set of Sambandha, Abhidheya and Prayojana Tattva. Such a saint’s Sambandha Tattva is Sri Mahavishnu, the source of the material world. The saint wishes to associate with the maintainer of the fourteen worlds and prays to Him for strength. The Abhidheya Tattva for the saint is Sri Radha Govind-devji , where through personal example the saint encourages the living entities to the become the servants of Sri Sri Radha Krishna and engages them in the service of the divine couple. The Prayojana tattva of the saint is Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu , the epitome of Prema. Sri Gauranga is the ishtha devata of such a saint who continually chants the name of Gauranga while being wakeful and even in dream. It is only Sri Gauranga who gives His mood to such a saint who has made “Jive Doya” as one’s goal where there is no paraphernalia like institution , groups, disciples, setup, money, fame ,means or any other aspect that has the capacity to dim the glorious purity of the movement of Sriman Mahaprabhu.
